Regional Development Minister Alannah MacTiernan was given a rundown of activities and issues in Northam when she attended the recent launch of the Perdaman Boulevard redevelopment project.
In his report to fellow Shire of Northam councillors on May 17, shire president Steven Pollard said he spoke to Ms MacTiernan, along with shire chief executive Jason Whiteaker.
“We are able to confirm that the tight State government finances will mean any business cases submitted for grant funding must demonstrate a direct, non-government permanent job outcome to have any chance of support,” Mr Pollard said in his report.
“We were able to demonstrate private investment was occurring in the Shire, due in no small part to State Government Royalties for Regions seed financial assistance.”
